「attend an international conference」attend　は出席するですね。
「国際conferenceに出席する」です。
国際conference　って何でしょう？
答えは、「国際会議」です。
「conference」は、「会議」とか「協議会」とか言う意味です。
meeting　も会議ですが、conferenceの方が
１年に一回だけ行われるような大きな会議のイメージです。
